I grabbed a few veggies from the refrigerator, a small cherry tomato was the perfect accent of bold color against this cross-section of yellow pepper. I’m particularly pleased with the highlights on the tomato – almost like a catchlight captured in the subject’s eye. I solved the problem of the grey background too – just zoom in close and eliminate it altogether!
Yellow Pepper, Red Tomato

Fantastic image. How did you manage to get all of it so sharp and focused? Love the tomato and the light on it.
Given my “beginner” status when it comes to controlling my shots, I’d say the sharp and focused was 80% luck and 20% trying to do what I thought was right. I did use a tripod which I’m finding helps, but I was a bit lazy and didn’t hook up the remote shutter release. It was taken at ISO 250, f/18 at 1/250 helped get the sharpness throughout the depth of field. I noticed many of the other shots were not sharp so tonight I’ll be hooking up the remote.
Great color combination! And healthy, too…. 🙂
LOL that’s what I do with whites to…much easier that way! Peppers are a favorite of mine, love the composition and color here!
The pepper looks HUGE! haha Great shot!
The colors here are dead on – very nice use of making everyday objects into art
